LAS VEGAS RANKS #1 FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT HOT SPOTS

Posted Friday, November 30th, 2007

In a recent study conducted jointly by the National Policy Research Council (NPRC) and Expansion Management Magazine, Las Vegas was ranked as the number one large metropolitan area for “Economic Development Hot clip_image0011Spots.” The employment expansion activity of 19 million companies was tracked during the past four years and Las Vegas was deemed as the top city “where companies tend to grow best.”

In addition to the honor garnered by Las Vegas, Clark County earned the number one ranking for mid-sized counties and Nevada captured the top state title. Many factors were considered in the study, but in simple terms, a high overall rank was achieved by having a large percentage of business establishments staying in business and experiencing at least moderate growth. The bottom line is that companies are not only coming to Las Vegas but they also are staying here and succeeding.

The cover story of the October issue of Expansion Management Magazine, “America’s Most Logistics-Friendly Cities,” offered several more nods to Nevada and Las Vegas. The “Best Road & Bridge Condition” number one ranking was given to the Silver State and Las Vegas earned the highest ranking in the country for its “Transportation & Warehouse Work Force.”

With great success in the overall rankings for economic development and in crucial specific areas such as logistics, it’s clear that the business-friendly environment we enjoy in Las Vegas continues to gain attention and accolades on a local, regional and national level. The Nevada Development Authority (NDA) is proud to support and aid in the maintenance and growth of that environment.
