Description: NxLeveL for Entrepreneurs is a 12-topic course running over 13 weeks (42-hours) designed for entrepreneurs who want to expand an existing business and need the skills to make it grow. Participants develop a comprehensive business plan during the course to act as the road map for future growth. People starting a business are encouraged to take the course as well!

In addition to the business plan and entrepreneurial course curriculum, NxLeveL provides a unique and uncommon networking opportunity into the business community. Participants in this course share ideas, best and worst practices, and become advisors to each other. The confidential and safe atmosphere allows a true bonding among business owners.

Each week the instructor will invite guest speakers to share their expertise in specific areas of business operations. The Q & A time with these experts is an invaluable opportunity for you to get answers to your unique business questions.

UNR To hold two-day conference on global warming solutions - JAN 30 & 31

The threat of global warming — as well as possible solutions — will take center stage on campus during a two-day series of presentations and discussions regarding the health of the environment in the northern Nevada region. University of Nevada, Reno

The conference on global warming solutions takes place on Jan. 30 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and Jan. 31 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the University of Nevada Reno (UNR) campus.

The topics for the event will focus on the impacts of current and projected climate change on regional ecosystems, along with a presentation on the commitment that the University has made to develop and apply many potential solutions to this environmental crisis. The presentation is being coordinated with “Focus the Nation” a national educational initiative geared toward inspiring solutions to climate change issues. Read full story:

Record Turnout for NCET’s Tech Tuesday at SNCAT

A record number of people turned out for the New Year’s first Tech Tuesday at SNCAT.  Sierra Nevada Community Access Television is a full community access center creating content and transmitting public, education and government cable channels in the Truckee Meadows.

Guests were briefed, and then given tours of the control room, where they could operate the video switcher.

In the studio, visitors has a chance to operate the cameras and serve as talk show hosts and guests.

Reno Entrepreneur Week events planned

Nevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology and the Nevada Commission on Economic Development have scheduled Entrepreneurship Week 2008 events March 10–15 in northern Nevada.

nnbw logo#2 [Converted]Dave Archer, chief executive officer of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology, said the events dubbed “eWeek” targets the 85 percent of companies in Nevada that have fewer than 20 employees. Among the week’s events will be NCET’s Entrepreneur Expo at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center March 15. The free event, which includes exhibitors, speakers and sponsors, will provide access to organizations that can help start a business, as well as advice on virtually every facet of running a business.

“The Expo is designed to provide ‘one-stop’ shopping for the resources and expertise anyone would need to start and grow a business here in the Silver State,” said Archer. He said organizers continue to line up experienced business people to join or sponsor the Expo.

Other eWeek events currently scheduled include a kick-off at Desert Research Center from 5:30-7:30 pm on March 10, an event sponsored by Northern Nevada Development Authority in Carson City on March 11, Wi-Fi Wednesday event on March 12 and the Business Buzz Breakfast sponsored by the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada on March 13.

The week wraps up with NCET’s Entrepreneur Expo on Saturday, March 10 at the Reno Sparks Convention Center.  The Expo is free and open to the public, and runs from 9 am until 5 pm.
