Posted Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Small, minority, service-disabled veteran and women-owned Nevada businesses that want to land big business and government contracts are invited to attend a seminar Thursday at John Ascuaga’s Nugget.

image “The event’s goal is to match agencies and companies who need services and supplies, with small businesses that provide them,” said Nevada Lt. Gov. Brian K. Krolicki, chair of the Nevada Commission on Economic Development.

This year, agencies and large companies are specifically looking for small businesses that provide: printing and janitorial service, promotional items, high-tech products and services, construction related services plus professional engineering and environmental services.

A $35 fee is required to attend the Business Matchmaking Event, which includes a buffet . Those interested can register in advance online at www.implanners.com/veterans/reg.html.

Federal law requires 23 percent of federal prime contract dollars be set aside for small, minority, service-disabled veteran and women owned businesses. Small businesses are described as having fewer than 500 employees and having fewer than 1,000 employees for manufacturing.

And you sit there stunned, wondering: How did they do that? Read more:
