2009 SBA Small Business Awards – May 7

In Business Las Vegas’ Small Business Administration’s Small Business Awards 2009: “Succeeding in Tough Economic Times,” will be held Thursday, May 7 at 11:30 a.m. sba.jpg
at The Orleans, Esplanade Ballroom. Cost is $55 per person or $500 for a table of 10.

The honorees are judged by an independent panel of small business leaders on a variety of criteria, including staying power, growth in number of employees, increase in sales, current and past financial reports, innovativeness of product or service, response to adversity, evidence of contributions to community-oriented projects and small business advocacy.

DRI Lecture Series – May 7

Desert Research Institute (DRI) is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a year-long series of lectures by its researchers. The first event will be held on Thursday, May 7 at the Tahoe DRI News ReleasesCenter for Environmental Sciences (TCES) at Sierra Nevada College (SNC) in Incline Village. The presentation starts at 4 p.m. on the dock of the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe with a reception and lecture to follow from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at SNC. Jim Thomas, DRI’s Director of the Watersheds and Environmental Sustainability Center, will be the speaker. Read more:
