Chuck Alvey

Chuck Alvey, CEcD*, is President and CEO of EDAWN - The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada, a position he has held since September of 1998. EDAWN is a not-for-profit corporation, a private-public partnership committed to recruiting and expanding quality companies that have a positive economic impact on the quality of life in the western Nevada region.Reporting to a community-based board of trustees and leading a professional team of sixteen, Chuck has led efforts resulting in over $500 million in economic impact to the region. Most recently he spearheaded the launch of EDAWN’s Business Builders, a business retention and expansion program seeking to build relationships and gather data from over one thousand base economy companies.

Chuck was named one of Nevada’s most respected CEO’s in November 2002 by Nevada Business Journal and was honored as marketer of the year for northern Nevada by the American Marketing Association’s local chapter twice over twelve years in Reno, once while General Manager of KOLO-TV and once at EDAWN. He came to his economic development career after thirty-one years in television management in Michigan, Arizona and is in the Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

Married 30 years to Pam, a special education teacher and published poet, he has three children: Heather, 25, a political science student at the University of Nevada, Reno and unit coordinator at St. Mary’s Hospital, Ryan, 21, a Theology-Pre Seminary major at Concordia University, Irvine and Amanda, 20, a Speech and Theatre major at Truckee Meadows Community College. He is an un-published novelist with two completed.
