Dave Archer
Dave Archer is President and Chief Executive Officer of NCET, Nevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology
Dave has over 35 years experience in all facets of marketing, technology, operations and finance. He spent 17 years at Viacom where he introduced numerous new products and services both in the United States and abroad, including Pay-Per-View, home shopping, high-speed data services and "Showtime Arabia," the Middle East’s largest multi-lingual cable TV and satellite programming service. In 1994, Dave joined Home Box Office in New York as Senior Vice President of International where he was responsible for HBO’s expansion into new international markets. Dave entered the Internet industry as head of International Websites at AOL Netscape, where he managed 17 international portals serving major international markets in Europe, the Pacific Rim and Latin American.
Dave then joined Headlight, a leading provider of online training services, as Vice President of Business Development and Sales. He secured strategic alliances with Microsoft, Compaq, AutoDesk and numerous other corporate partners, and led Headlight’s move to a Business-to-Business strategy. Prior to joining CET, Dave was a Reno-based marketing and management consultant providing marketing, management and consulting services to small and medium businesses launching new products, services and business units. His consulting practice focused on marketing plans, business plans, and electronic marketing services.
Dave holds an MBA with honors in Marketing and a BA in Management from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA. He also holds AS degrees in Electronics Engineering and Broadcast Engineering from the College of San Mateo in San Mateo, CA.
Dave is a co-founder of the Reno Angels, a member of University of Southern Nevada’s MBA Advisory Board, Morrison University’s Management Advisory Board and the State of Nevada’s EPSCoR Advisory Committee. Dave is Past President of the Reno-Tahoe American Marketing Association and a member of the Nevada Development Authority, EDAWN, and the Las Vegas, Reno-Sparks and Northern Nevada Chambers of Commerce. He was recently named Nevada Nonprofit News’ “Nonprofit Executive of the Year” and the Reno-Tahoe AMA’s “Marketer of the Year.”
Dave’s most notable experiences include skydiving, a 16-day cruise on an aircraft carrier, traveling 5,000’ below the earth’s surface into a silver mine, flying a 757 flight simulator and visiting over 75 countries around the world.
