Dave Archer
is Chief Executive Officer of Nevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (NCET).

Dave has over 30 years of experience in all facets of technology, media and service industry management and business development. Dave spent 17 years at Viacom, initially at Viacom Cable, where he introduced numerous new products and services including Pay-Per-View, home-shopping and commercial telecommunication services. Dave created and managed Viacom World Wide, providing strategic planning and business development services to major international media clients around the world. At Viacom, Inc., he created “Showtime Arabia,” an international joint venture that delivers a multi-lingual satellite programming service to the Middle East.

In 1994, Dave joined Home Box Office in New York as Senior Vice President of International where he was responsible for HBO’s expansion into new international markets. His work included a $50 million Saudi Arabia Pay-TV joint venture and a comprehensive management consulting agreement with a major Middle East media company. Dave entered the Internet industry as head of International Content Programming at AOL-Netscape, where he managed 17 international websites serving major markets in Europe, Asia, Latin America, Canada and Australia.

Dave then joined Headlight, a leading provider of online training services, as Vice President of Business Development and Sales. He secured strategic alliances with Microsoft, Compaq, AutoDesk and numerous other corporate partners, and led Headlight’s move to a Business-to-Business strategy. Prior to joining CET, Dave was a Reno-based marketing and management consultant providing marketing, management and consulting services to small and medium businesses launching new products, services and business units. His consulting practice focused on marketing plans, business plans, and electronic marketing services.

Dave is the former President of the Reno-Tahoe chapter of the American Marketing Association, and a member of the Boards of the EDAWN Foundation and TBAN (Technology Business Alliance of Nevada) and a member of the University of Southern Nevada’s MBA Advisory Board.  Dave is also a member of EDAWN, the Advertising Association of Northern Nevada (A2N2) and WIN.

Dave holds an MBA with honors in Marketing and a BA in Management from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA. He also holds AS degrees in Electronics Engineering and Broadcast Engineering from the College of San Mateo in San Mateo, CA.
