Small Business Innovation Research Workshop: Support for Small High Tech Companies – Feb 16 – Las Vegas

Small, high tech companies can access $2.3 billion when they can meet the needs of any of eleven Federal agencies. The agencies prepare listing of the types of innovations they are seeking and companies compete for funding of up to $150K for Phase I and over a $1 million for Phase II projects. The funds are non-dilutive grants.

Dr. Chandler Marrs received her BA in philosophy from the University of Redlands; MS in Clinical Psychology from California Lutheran University; and, MA and PhD in Experimental Psychology/ Neuroendocrinology from UNLV. Her research on the role of adrenal androgens in postpartum psychiatric disorders won top honors at UNLV.

A veteran of 5 startups (one of which conducted a successful IPO), Rick Duggan is currently Director of Website Systems, and Director of Community Technology & Incubation Services at Zappos. While focused on technology, he also has a strong background in operations, business planning, product feasibility, and agile software development.

Originally from New York City, he lived in Richmond, Virginia, before relocating to Las Vegas in January, 2008. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Georgia Tech. Rick serves on the TBAN Board of Directors, as Zappos’ representative, and in the role of Liaison with early stage startups.
