Collegians pitch ideas for cash
For these collegians, Monday was serious business that demanded serious attire: suits, ties and polished shoes.
With $110,000 on the line, a dozen teams from Nevada colleges and universities gave presentations touting their business as most deserving of the annual Donald W. Reynolds Collegiate Business Plan Competition winnings.
T hey were the finalists from among 48 initial entries. Four winners, undergraduate and graduate teams for both the Governor’s Cup and the
Lieutenant Governor’s Award, will be announced by Nevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology at a luncheon Friday in Henderson.
They might still be in college, but their businesses are real, at least on paper. Under the rules, that cannot generate revenue, but that didn’t stop the entrepreneurs from thinking big.
