Competition teaches business skills
For their final exam, a class of University of Nevada, Reno students went completely to the dogs. The 33 students in professor Judy Strauss’ marketing class were competing in the
style of Donald Trump’s “The Apprentice” TV show to see who could earn the most cash with dog-washing “businesses.” The six teams cleaned canines Saturday at locations around Reno and Sparks to see who could make the most money in three hours and get the highest grade on their final exam. Throughout the semester, Strauss has divided the students into different teams to perform tasks designed to teach them how to use what they had learned from textbooks and lectures in the real world.
