Free NCET Entrepreneur’s Expo is time well spent for small business owners
Every year, the NCET Entrepreneur Expo provides access to experts, free professional development seminars and nearly 100 exhibitors that cater to small businesses. Over the years, the free Expo has grown to become a vital part of our small business community.
Right now, 95 percent of all Nevada businesses have fewer than 20 employees. Given that statistic, there’s a pretty good chance that if you’re reading this, you either run a small business, work for one, or are thinking of starting one.
Small businesses have unique needs. They don’t have a sizeable budget for marketing, advertising or public relations; they probably don’t have an in-house IT or human resources department; and odds are, small business owners are just as likely to have “CEO” on their letterhead as they are to take the trash out at night. It’s a simple fact of small business life: you wear a lot of hats – sometimes, too many hats.
The Expo is Nevada’s only business-to-small-business event, and it’s crafted around the understanding that small business owners are limited on both time and financial resources and must make the most of both. The Expo is all about showing them how to do it.
Every year we work to tailor the Expo programs to meet the current challenges of our Northern Nevada small business community. This year the economy remains a central focus. We’ve created two tracks of free educational programming for this year’s event, one that focuses on marketing, and the other on general business issues. The marketing concepts we’ll share with you are based on low-cost, high-impact strategies that will help you make the most of a limited budget. Our business track of seminars will focus on basic business-building strategies and general business information.
In addition to these tracks, as always, the Expo will be home to nearly 100 exhibitors who will provide one-stop shopping for everything a small operation needs. Whether you’re thinking of starting a company or you’re already a small business owner, this is the place to network and connect with hundreds of people who have the potential to help you advance your goals. Without exaggeration, I can assure you that a few hours spent at Expo is the best investment a small business owner can make to get their business on track and keep it moving forward.
The NCET Entrepreneur Expo will be held September 16 from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm in the Atlantis Resort Casino Spa’s Grand Ballroom. The event is free, open to the public, and supported entirely by NCET’s volunteer staff. You can learn more about the Expo at www.NCETexpo.org/Reno.
