EDAWN – Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (www.EDAWN.org)  EDAWN is committed to recruiting and expanding quality companies that have a positive economic impact on the quality of life in Greater Reno-Tahoe. EDAWN provides advice and guidance on business incentives and assistance programs that may be available to help your business grow and prosper.

Global Business Development
(www.expand2nevada.com/globaltrade.html)  GTI programs are aimed at helping businesses expand into international markets. GTI offers programs designed to assess your readiness – and potential for success – in exporting products or services. GTI’s services can also be used by existing exporters to enter new or unfamiliar markets. GTI can assist with International Trade Shows and Trade Missions, and it maintains a network of nine international trade representative offices throughout the world.

IRS – All Tax Centers are now available online; see the Industry/Professions page on IRS.gov for most of the Tax Centers. There are also several other Tax Centers which are not listed on the Industries/Professions page. There is also a Self-Employed Individuals Tax Center. NCED – Nevada Commission on Economic Development (www.Expand2Nevada.com) The NCED’s mission is to maintain a diverse economic base, ensure a healthy economy through quality jobs and competitive wages, and provide a quality of life that attracts and retains businesses. NCED programs are designed to remove barriers and help businesses achieve success. Whether your company is entering the global market for the first time or you’re an experienced exporter, NCED will provide the help you need to grow your business and market your products and services to national and international audiences.

NCET – Nevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (www.NCET.org) NCET’s programs encourage Nevadans to start businesses, and connect them to the resources they need to succeed. NCET hosts annual Entrepreneur Expos; the annual Silver & Gold Venture Capital Conference, which provides increased access by Nevada companies to risk capital, and is designed as a forum for sharing knowledge and building relationships; and the Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup Collegiate Business Plan Competition, which encourages Nevada’s university and college students to consider entrepreneurship as a career option and gives students real-world business planning experience.

NDA – Nevada Development Administration (www.nevadadevelopment.org)  NDA’s programs are designed to attract and assist new industrial and commercial businesses to Southern Nevada, and to facilitate the retention and expansion of existing businesses in Southern Nevada.  NDA helps foster an effective working relationship between business and government agencies (local, state and federal)

NEH – Nevada Employer Help (www.NevadaEmployerHelp.com)  NevadaEmployerHelp.com is a coalition of non-profit Northern Nevada agencies working in partnership to provide workforce solutions, programs and assistance specifically targeted for employers. NevadaEmployerHelp.com can provide employers with a one stop resource for all their recruiting, screening, human resource and training needs.

NIREC – Nevada Institute for Renewable Energy Commercialization (www.NIREC.org) The Nevada Institute for Renewable Energy Commercialization (NIREC) is a private non-profit Nevada Corporation that assists inventors and early stage companies to transform their scientific research into viable clean energy businesses. Through the strength of its management team, independent Board of Trustees, and Technology Commercialization Advisory Board, NIREC forges collaboration among researchers, experienced entrepreneurs, business executives, corporations, and early stage capital resources to identify, mature and fund viable, cost-effective, renewable energy solutions.

NMI – Nevada Microenterprise Initiative (www.4microbiz.org) NMI provides tools to assist businesses in overcoming barriers they may face in starting or expanding a company. NMI offers business training, business loans and great networking opportunities.

NSBDC – Nevada Small Business Development Center (www.NSBDC.org) NSBDC provide an abundance of free and low-cost information, assistance, counseling and training for Nevada businesses.

NVIE – Nevada Industry Excellence (formerly Management Assistance Partnership (www.nevadaie.com) NVIE works directly with Nevada companies to strengthen their global competitiveness by providing information, decision support and implementation assistance in adopting new, more advanced technologies, techniques and best business practices. NVIE helps companies to streamline operations, apply the most up-to-date and sophisticated technology, provide managerial assistance and train the workforce.

POP – Procurement Outreach Program (www.expand2nevada.com/procurement.html)  POP works to increase the flow of contract dollars to Nevada businesses by providing the necessary training and technical assistance to find, bid on and acquire federal, state and local contracts. Many businesses consider the idea of selling their products or services to government much too complicated and overwhelming. POP helps simplify the process and cut through the red tape, connecting Nevada businesses with lucrative opportunities.

SBA – U.S. Small Business Administration (www.sba.gov) The SBA helps Americans start, build and grow businesses, and provides SBA-backed loans, government contracting opportunities, disaster assistance and training programs to help businesses succeed.

SBIR – Small Business Innovation Research / STTR – Small Business Technology Transfer Program (www.sba.gov/SBIR)  SBIR and STTR are two similar federal grant programs designed to involve small, but high technology companies in meeting the needs of eleven federal agencies. $2.3 billion is available each year, and each of the agencies issues its priorities and the instructions for submitting proposals at least once a year.

SCORE – Counselors to America’s Small Business (www.score-reno.org/sr/) SCORE is a nationwide organization of active and retired businessmen and women who volunteer their services to assist small businesses and people who want to go into business for themselves. More than 30 volunteer counselors provide free business counseling, free orientation workshops, and low cost seminars throughout Nevada. SCORE also provides crisis management assistance for businesses at-risk for closure.

USDA – US Department of Agriculture (www.usda.gov)  The USDA provides leadership on food, agriculture, natural resources, and related issues. Along with many other programs, the USDA provides grants and loan guarantees to agricultural producers, businesses and cooperatives located in rural communities to purchase renewable energy systems and make other energy efficiency improvements, to increase the economic viability of biomass projects, and to finance energy technology.

VBOC – Veterans Business Outreach Center (www.vboc-ca.org) The Veterans Business Outreach Center is a non-profit organization that provides a variety of business development services to Veterans, DVBE, Reservist and Guard Members in their initiatives to start, cultivate or expand a business initiative.
