Las Vegas-built solar power plant components up and running
The first solar thermal power plant components built in Nevada are up and generating electricity in California’s San Joaquin Valley.
Ausra, owner of a solar energy component manufacturing plant in Las Vegas, today turned on a 5 megawatt concentrating solar thermal power plant that
will serve as a demonstration array near Bakersfield, Calif.
The array produces enough energy to power 3,500 homes.
The solar plant components were built in the Las Vegas factory, which is the first solar thermal component plant built in the United States.
