Natchez Elementary switches to solar power; People names Black Rock Solar exec "environmental hero"

By month’s end, Natchez Elementary School near Wadsworth, east of Sparks, will be getting 85 percent its energy needs from the sun.

Crews from Black Rock Solar, a nonprofit project of the Burning Man community, and other agencies are erecting a 60-kilowatt solar power system expected to generate 108,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity a year.

That, officials say, will result in savings of $360,000 over the next 25 years. Read full story:
