Nevada Institute for Renewable Energy Commercialization (NIREC) – Call for Proposals Application
The Nevada Institute for Renewable Energy Commercialization (NIREC) has launched their March 09 Call for Proposals Application documents. Instructions are available on their website (www.nirec.org, and www.nirec.org/rfp). The deadline for submission is June 18.
NIREC’s mission is expressly to integrate researchers, experienced entrepreneurs, business executives, and financial capital to identify, fund and accelerate the development of nascent renewable energy technologies. NIREC awards fund up to $100,000 to support the commercialization of renewable energy technologies, and funds are to be used for technology validation and technical proof of concept activities. Successful projects also benefit from being a part of the Entrepreneur-in-Residence Program, where experienced business executive help in the development of a well grounded and compelling “Business Package”. A Business Package is a set of documents that sets the stage for taking the project to the next milestone, whether its objective is to seek funding to start a company, license the technology, or conclude that a viable business does not exist.
This call for proposals is open to all faculty, students and staff of NIREC’s research partners, namely:
- University of Nevada Las Vegas
- University of Nevada Reno
- Dessert Research Institute
- University of California Davis
Additionally, all pre-seed stage renewable energy companies either registered in the State of Nevada or affiliated with one of NIREC’s research partners are also eligible to apply. All other submissions will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. Please send your inquiry to rfp@nirec.org.
