Nevada’s first major wind farm in the works near Virginia Peak
For Nevada’s first major wind farm, large wind turbines are proposed for the Pah Rahs that
frame the east end of Warm Springs Valley, creating some concerns among valley residents.
Nevada Wind LLC proposes to build 20 to 50 turbines on ridges near Virginia Peak for a project that could cost $300 million, said Tim Carlson, a partner in the Las Vegas company.
With Washoe County approvals this fall, the wind farm could begin construction next year and generate power by 2010 and be completed by 2013, Carlson said. Read full story:
