New UNR library creates knowledge environment
The University of Nevada, Reno will close the books on its 46-year-old Getchell Library next month and begin a new chapter with the opening of its $75.3 million state-of-the-art Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center. This is not your grandpa’s (or grandma’s) library,
hence the name befitting an era of students who wield PCs and BlackBerrys as if they were electronic appendages.
The Knowledge Center will make students’ multimedia dreams come true, while supplying books, periodicals and the usual information expected from a library in electronic and printed form, library officials said. It will be one of the most technologically advanced libraries in the country and one of about 30 that have an automatic retrieval system. Read full story:
