Reno Angels Announce 2009 Membership Drive – Mar 12
The Reno Angels are conducting their 2009 membership drive, and are inviting prospective new members to attend a special informational meeting from 5:30 – 7:30 pm on March, 12, 2009 at the offices of Holland & Hart at 5441 Kietzke Lane in Reno.
The Reno Angels were formed in mid-2008 and have already reviewed 30 applications for funding, have selected about 10 companies to present “pitches” to the angel group, and are now conducting due diligence with three companies that show excellent investment potential.
“The Reno Angels are a group of investors dedicated to providing equity capital to early and mid-stage entrepreneurial companies, primarily those based in the Greater Reno-Tahoe area,” noted Gary Foote, Co-Founder and Chair of the Reno Angels. “Our members have extensive experience in founding, building, managing and/or financing companies in a wide variety of industries. We use this experience, first to evaluate, and then to benefit, the companies in which we invest.”
The Reno Angels meet on the second Monday of each month to view presentations from companies seeking funding. Members are expected to actively participate in reviewing and evaluating the companies seeking investments, and to invest a minimum of $25,000 per year in the selected companies. The members mentor and coach the entrepreneurs in whom they invest, serving on their boards, providing contacts and assisting with team building, strategic planning and fundraising. The Reno Angels also work closely with other angel groups throughout the country as well as with regional and national venture firms.
