SBA seeks nominees for awards program
The Small Business Administration is looking for Greater Reno-Tahoe companies and business owners that have earned a moment in the spotlight. David Leonard, senior area manager in the SBA district office that covers Nevada, said last week he’s beginning to recruit nominees for a bevy of awards to be announced in coming months.
“I think we have a great opportunity to get some of these folks the recognition they deserve,” Leonard said. The entry deadline is Nov. 14. Among the many award categories are Small Business Person of the Year, Exporter of the Year, Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Family-Owned Business of the Year, Entrepreneurial Success of the Year, and the Phoenix Award for a small business that recovered from a disaster.
Other award categories include several for government contracting (both prime contractors and subcontractors), recognition for people who champion small businesses and honors for lending institutions.
State winners will be selected in mid-December. State winners then become eligible for national awards that are announced in early March.
