If you’re looking for a way to be part of the solution that helps get Nevada’s economy back on track, I’d encourage you to support the upcoming eWeek and NCET Entrepreneur Expo.

Entrepreneur Week Nevada (eWeek) is a weeklong series of events designed to recognize and celebrate the Silver State’s entrepreneurial endeavors. This year’s extended eWeek runs Saturday through March 16 in Reno, and the premiere event is the free and open-to-the-public NCET Entrepreneur Expo on March 12 at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa. The expo is designed to connect entrepreneurs with small business experts from across the state who make themselves available to share information, provide guidance and offer one-stop-shopping for business startups.

Wi-Fi Wednesday Logo CMYK - FINAL Each year, this event becomes more popular. NCET has fine-tuned its approach to developing an event that’s designed exclusively for micro, home-based and small businesses. In fact, the NCET Entrepreneur Expo is the only business exposition in the state that caters to the specific needs of start-ups. \There’s no intimidation or "big business" feel — only answers to the questions aspiring business owners ask: Do I need a business license? How do I write a business plan? Can I qualify for a loan? Do I need to incorporate? How can I find a small business bank? How do I market my company? These are all questions small business people can find answers to at the NCET Entrepreneur Expo. It’s free, easy and the information is accurate and honest.

Stacked hats If you’re an aspiring entrepreneur, I encourage you to attend or exhibit at expo. This is an excellent opportunity to build your network and connect with resources to help you with everything from business planning, licensing and funding to long-range marketing and expansion.

The expo will feature about 100 exhibitors, including representatives from state and federal government and business agencies, professional services providers, educational institutions and small-business lenders. Exhibitors will provide information on all stages of micro and small business development. Attendees can also learn practical information in a daylong series of no-cost seminars. Seminars will cover topics ranging from pre-startup strategizing to long-term business planning.

If you’re already in business, this is an opportunity to promote your company to other small-business owners and learn more about how you can keep your business thriving in a slow economy. If you’re thinking about starting a business, this event is for you, too. It’s a chance to test the waters, ask questions and decide if being an entrepreneur is for you. And if you provide business-to-business products or services, consider exhibiting or becoming a sponsor. You know what it takes to make a small business successful. Share that experience with others looking to blaze their own trails.

As the elected official in charge of managing more than 300,000 corporate filings and a strong business advocate, I believe Nevada’s economic infrastructure was built by entrepreneurs and it will be rebuilt by entrepreneurs as well. To accomplish this, we must support our state and local small business owners in every way possible.
