MGM-Mirage is the world’s second-largest gambling company by revenue. It owns and operates 16 casinos in Nevada, Mississippi and Michigan and has 50 percent investments in four other properties. The company’s $8.5 billion City Center has been considered the most expensive privately financed project in United States. It is scheduled to begin opening in phases starting in 2009. The financing for the project has faced challenges, as the development evolved from its original scope; putting the project in danger of not being completed while testing its relationship with partner Dubai World and its bank and financial creditors.
