Do you know an exceptional entrepreneur, small business technology company, or outstanding local firm that’s taking Northern Nevada by storm?

It’s once again time to start recognizing the innovation underway in the Greater Reno-Tahoe region through the NCET Technology Awards and the Reno Gazette-Journal’s Entrepreneur Awards. Nominations open Jan. 5 and close Jan. 19. Honorees will be recognized at a dinner on February 16 at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa.

We’re combining these two programs this year into what I believe will be an exciting and inspiring event. There are many reasons to recognize the strides being made by entrepreneurs, small businesses and tech companies in Northern Nevada. Despite our current economic conditions, we know there are resourceful individuals and companies in our midst who are casting aside perceptions of adversity, moving forward with new business concepts, and developing novel ways to create new enterprises, many born of necessity.

We need your help to recognize these efforts, and you can do that through nominating the area’s best and brightest performers through the NCET Technology Awards and the Reno Gazette-Journal Entrepreneur Awards. Here’s what we’re looking for:

NCET Technology Awards:

• · Technology Company of the Year
• · Technology Start Up
• · Green Company of the Year
• · Technology Entrepreneur of the Year
• · CIO / CTO of the Year
• · Technology Educator of the Year
• · Hall of Fame Inductee

The NCET Awards are an annual event dedicated to celebrating individuals and companies who have greatly enhanced the growth and prestige of Northern Nevada’s technology community. A full list of nominating criteria can be found here. Please note that while previous winners of these awards are not eligible, we do encourage re-nomination of previous nominees.

Reno Gazette-Journal Entrepreneur of the Year Awards:

• · Small business (fewer than five employees)
• · Medium business (five – 20 employees)
• · Large business (20 or more employees)
• · “Best New Entrepreneur” award – recognizes companies formed in 2007 or later.

Similar to the philosophy behind the NCET Awards, the RGJ Entrepreneur of the Year Awards recognize outstanding leaders at all levels of business, from small to large companies. The goal is to salute exceptional performers who make a significant contribution to Northern Nevada.
