WHO LET THE BIGDOG OUT?
Like the dawn of artificial intelligence, the arrival of the BigDog robot — the most advanced
robot on the planet — creeps people out. On You Tube, where videos of the robot performing maneuvers that would dislocate the joints of man or beast have become an Internet sensation, the majority of comments fall into the “good God that robot is scary as hell” category. You can credit UNLV assistant professor David Lee for that. A mad scientist or villain the mild-mannered 34-year-old Lee is not. But it was his calculations and modeling related to goats and other four-legged animals that led to the lifelike manner of the robot. Read full story:
