What we learned during COVID-19 are things we will apply more than ever in a post pandemic landscape.

And Daniel-san, we learned a lot.

Chrisie Yabu from KPS3 will highlight the five lessons, and a ton of takeaways, on what marketing communications professionals have learned communicating through the pandemic, and how you can apply them beyond.

Chrisie will take you through the marcom (marketing communications) philosophies of::

  • The Best Defense is More Offense.

  • It’s time to be proactive and embrace opportunities you thought you didn’t have.

  • Wax on. Wax off. Apply the disciplines of calm, consistent and communicative.

  • Never Put Passion In Front Of Principle.

  • You must deal with reputation management, especially in the new era of cancel culture.

  • Never Mind Your Past Mistakes, Don’t Let Them Determine Your Future.

  • Always iterate and continue to optimize.

  • “Whole Life Have A Balance, Everything Be Better.” Integrated marketing communications is a healthy mix of both marketing and communications.

Crane kick your communications to the next level — a time of thinking and acting beyond agile — and earn your marcom black belt maneuvering through challenging times.

About our speaker

As Vice President of Public Relations for KPS3, Chrisie facilitates clients’ strategic communications and marketing needs by acting as both their advisor and their strategic partner. If she’s not media training judges across the country, she is typically pitching a major news outlet, writing original content or designing a creative angle for a new story idea.

Chrisie grew up in San Francisco and first felt the calling to PR while watching a local news anchor named Wendy Tokuda, one of the first Japanese American women anchors in the West. Her dream eventually came true when an internship at the Phelps Agency in Santa Monica, Calif. led to a full-time position as the agency’s team coordinator, followed by a quick rise to team leader, the youngest at the time.

Chrisie eventually moved inland to Reno, Nev., where she joined gustin/curtis. She moved onto IGT, where she worked as the integrated marketing communications manager, leading the organization’s advertising and PR agencies, and developing fresh approaches to game product launches around the globe. She then joined the team at Monarch Casino & Resort, Inc. as the corporate executive director of marketing. Chrisie graduated magna cum laude and with honors from the University of Southern California, Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.

Chrisie has secured coverage for clients in top outlets such The New York Times, Conde Nast Traveler, NBC Nightly News, The Washington Post, USAToday and Forbes among others. She is a 2021 PR Hall of Fame honoree from PRSA Sierra Nevada, a 2020 Top 10 Most Influential Women of the Sierra Nevada and a recipient of the prestigious national PRSA Silver Anvil Award, deemed the Oscars of the PR industry.
