When people hear about Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada, our Dining Room and our Thrift Stores come to mind. But we are so much more than that.

For over 80 years, Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada has met our community’s most basic needs for food, clothing, and other emergency services. We are continuing to evolve our assistance programs to put more emphasis on moving people out of the cycle of poverty to meaningful and sustainable living.

We will always provide emergency services, and food, but are expanding our focus on programming that gives our clients the tools to seek higher paying employment, stable housing, financial literacy, and parenting and relationship skills. We have also moved to a service-oriented approach with our new Neighborhood Centers in North Valleys, Sun Valley, Moana and Winnemucca, our first food pantry and neighborhood center outside of the Reno area. Officially, we serve 13 of the 17 counties in Nevada.

Catholic Charities continues to see an increase in need, and the numbers build daily. Because of the kindness of our community, we have been able to be the safety net for individuals and families as they struggle to put food on the table, pay rent and utilities and simply meet their basic needs. Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada is addressing the root causes of poverty by encountering and accompanying those living in poverty on a journey of economic equality and the realization of a meaningful and purposeful life.

You’re invited to spend the afternoon touring Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada. During your visit you’ll learn:

  • History of Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada

  • What we are seeing and what the biggest current needs are in our community
